About Us

Joe and Jennifer Rutherford, a husband and wife artist team, reside in Leroy, Michigan. Before meeting each other they both were graphic artists, Joe working in production and Jennifer in mechanical illustrations. Once they met they began their own business in 1999, Upon a Wall, painting wall murals. Over the next 8 years they painted over 340 murals in both homes and businesses throughout Michigan and Ohio. In 2006 they decided to pursue their lifelong passions, Joe with metal fabrication and Jennifer with glass fusion. They developed a way of combining metal and glass to create unique pieces for the home and garden. Their items can be found in galleries in Michigan. They have also been invited to participate in ArtPrize, an international art competition in Grand Rapids, Michigan, four times. Their entries have placed in the top 50 entries out of 1,500-1,700 entries from around the world. Their glass and metal pieces have also won 1st place three times and 2nd place once in the art glass competition at Delphi in Lansing, Michigan. When not working on their product, Joe is building an “art car” using metal fabrication and found objects and Jennifer has been working on illustrations for a children’s book.
